TINY METAL Goes to War Dec 21st!

PRESS RELEASE December 4th, 2017 Sony Music Entertainment

Sony Music Entertainment Japan (HQ: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) is excited to announce that their new indie games label UNTIES will be debuting its first title, AREA 35 developed TINY METAL, on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC, on December 21st. With its fusion of classic turn-based strategy battles and modern 3D graphics powered by Unreal Engine, TINY METAL is sure to entertain fans all around the world. Despite the fact that the game is built on the classic turn-based strategy genre, it’s filled with brandnew systems and unique twists on old favorites.

After being showcased at numerous game events such as PAX West in Seattle,BitSummit in Kyoto, and Paris Games Week, TINY METAL concludes its pre-launch tour with a final stop at this weekend's PlayStation Experience in Anaheim, CA. Come play at the UNTIES booth (#41)!

We're happy to show off two brand new features at PSX this weekend: Hero Units and Multiplayer! Producer and Director of TINY METAL, Hiroaki Yura, will also be giving interviews and private demos of the multiplayer for the first time at PSX! Please contact us to book an appointment!

Hero Units: Yura anticipates players experiencing some new aspects of Japanese turnbased tactics gameplay, one of which is the game's Hero Units feature. "Unlike the usual general's abilities of other games, Hero Units are units you can unlock by playing through the campaign," explained Yura. "Their veteran rank is maintained throughout the battles and it really pays to make sure you give them experience." Unlike normal units, TINY METAL's Hero Units can be brought over from mission to mission and can be deployed directly onto the field as opposed to being produced in factories. They are also generally stronger than normal troops or more versatile, such as a scout unit firing surface-to-air missiles when engaging aerial targets as opposed to its standard machine gun.

Finally, we have been chatting with luminaries around the gaming world about the upcoming release. We had a chance to sit down with two very special fans of TINY METAL: Neir: Automata Director Yoko Taro and YouTube personality Kayane ! Both videos of the talks are now on the TINY METAL YouTube channel.

Return to Japanese Arcade War Gaming! TINY METAL is a turn-based strategy game of skill and tactics inspired by Japanese arcade war games of the past (like the Advance War series). Step into the aftermath of a kingdom reeling from an assassination and try to restore order through military might. Roll out tanks, take control of cities, launch aerial strikes, expand your squad, and struggle for territory in a stylistic tactical war game for fans young and old.

Play as Artemisian Lieutenant Nathan Gries as he commands his units against the villainous nation of Zipang. Players will have to carefully consider varying terrain, positioning for attacks, and strategic advancements and defenses.

Campaign mode: Follow the gripping story of Nathan and his unit as they struggle with the war and question what is -- and what isn't -- worth fighting for in a 20-hour campaign full of unique characters of various factions.

Multiplayer: Soon-to-be added online mode will test you against other players in 1-on-1 matches online or via local play!

Skirmish Matches: Jump straight into the action with dozens of skirmish matches thatchallenge the player with fun scenarios against a variety of foes.

Units: Take control of 15 unique units, from basic Riflemen to advanced Gunships and Metals, each with their own strengths and weakness. Witness your units get stronger as they gain experience on the battlefield.

Terrain: Different terrain types offer various bonuses, rewarding players who take advantage of the forest, cities, and factories scattered around the maps. Some terrain even gives players access to new units and powerful hero units!

Music: Bop along to the beats of TINY METAL's upbeat soundtrack composed by the Japanese musical prodigy Tomoki Miyoshi , whose past works include SOULCALIBUR V, Steins;Gate and I am Setsuna.
